The concept is “stress-free earrings”
It was back in 2010 when a French jewelry designer living in Switzerland, initiated the idea of unconventional, ingenious earrings.
Determined to solve the problems of lost earrings and discomfort caused by earring backs, he set out to develop backless earrings.
Believing that fastner-integrated earrings would eliminate the problem of falling earring backs, he produced many prototypes using his knowledge and expertise as a jewelry designer.
He made many improvements with the aim of commercializing his invention, however, it took a great effort and time to complete just one prototype.
So he turned to a long-established Swiss movement factory, to see if they could work with him on the development of the earrings.
With their ability to manufacture as many as 200 tiny parts and assemble sophisticated machines, he believed that the company could produce the earrings with a complex structure he envisioned.
With their watchmaking technology and many years of experience, all together created the world’s first T-shaped earring post mechanism through trials and improvements.
From there, further improvements were made toward commercialization with the focus on comfort and ease of use, and the development of backless earrings completed in 2018 after long eight years of perseverance.
The innovative structure lets you adjust the fastener to your comfort by sliding the flipped part of the post.
The earrings are named “Baqless” for their game-changing backless closure mechanism.
